Michael W. Broadbent DMD, MS
Michael W. Broadbent was raised in Pleasant View,Utah. He attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
He received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, Louisville, Kentucky in 2003.
He then pursued a 4 year residency earning him a Certificate and Masters of Science in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa in 2007.
He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and as a Board Certified Oral Surgeon became a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2009.

Student Representives of Dist X

I am honored to be able to announce the two students who have been selected to serve as our Student representives of Dist X to the ADHA HOD and AS in Boston.

The Student Delegate will be Shannon Williams and Alternate Delgate is Stephanie Lyon. Shannon attends Dixie State University in Utah and Stephanie attends Utah Valley University. Congratulations to both and to the state of Utah, we had 21 applications from all states in our District, so thankyou to all the directors for making sure your students are aware of this very special opportunity! Let us all welcome these students into the fold as we celebrate 100 years of the profession of Dental Hygiene!!!!

I have personally called each applicant and thanked them for their submission and encouraged them to continue their involvement with their Association. The response that those students exhibited was an encouraging endorsement of the positive attitudes and eagerness of the next generation that will contribute to the profession. So please take a moment and share that with your components and extend a warm welcome to both Shannon and Stephanie….

Lobby Day…Hygienists Wanted!

Thank you to those who came this past Friday. It was a good kicking off point! Armed with knowledge of how to do it better, next year should be a bigger success. We have already scheduled Lobby Day for next year on February 14th. So put in on the calender and plan on spreading the love! We have a kitchen reserved, so it should go a little smoother. We are taking ideas on how to incorporate “love” day with our themes for lobbying. Also, if you could solidify the points you discussed with the Representatives you talked to via email that would be great. If you forgot who spoke to or don’t have their contact info let Danyelle or I know and we’ll see if we can help. Thank you again for your continual support of our profession and association.

Representative Cosgrove has come through for us! He has made it clear that it is very important for us to show up at the capitol this year, even though we don’t have any bills before the legislature. 40% of the legislators are newly elected this year and it is important they know what is important to us and what we are passionate about…..prevention!

Lobby Day is: Friday, February 15, 2013

Time: 8 AM-2 PM You do not have to come for the whole time, even an hour or two will be helpful.

Please do not be intimidated, we have everything already prepared and will go over everything you need to know prior to talking to any legislators. All you need to do is show up! The important thing to realize is that we need to start showing a presence and making connections with these elected officials. This will allow us to start building relationships, so we are prepared and have contacts in the future. If they know who we are, and know we show up, it will be easier in the future to get their ear when we do have bills before the legislature. Also, you will not need to talk if you are uncomfortable, you can just accompany someone who is speaking. We still need your support!
