What is the HOD?

The House of Delegates (HOD) is the governing body for the Utah Dental Hygienists' Association. They are the management and oversight of the profession. It is the forum in which the professional direction of the UDHA is decided.

Delegates from each component meet once a year to conduct the business of the Utah Dental Hygienists' Association. The HOD is where officers are elected, new ideas and directions for the association are introduced, discussed, voted upon and then placed into action by the Board of Trustees (BOT).

If you have professional concerns or ideas for you profession or association, this is a place to be heard. The HOD is where changes are made. You can help guide your profession in the direction of your choice. If you want things to change or you see a need that has not yet been fulfilled, become a delegate, contact a delegate or a Board member and be heard.

Who can be a Delegate?

Delegates are members of the American Dental Hygienists' Association who volunteer their time to represent their components and their colleagues – they represent YOU!!!

2009 Issues

For more detailed information on any of these issues please see the members' only section of this website.

  • Emerging workforce models
  • One of the issues discussed was to dissolve the HOD, primarily due to a lack of particapation. This was not the first time this issue has been brought forth. Each time the Delegates have met the needed quorum by one and they have voted to continue the HOD. The following resolution was adopted:
    • Proposal: Be it resolved that in the event that a quorum is not established for one year, the HOD shall be dissolved and the House business shall revert to the general membership.
  • The Student House of Delegates (SHOR)

    Student House of Representatives

The Student House of Representatives (SHOR) allows students the opportunity to discuss and vote on issues that are under consideration by UDHA House of Delegates (HOD).

SHOR also meets during UDHA‘s annual session. It is comprised of one student from each of the Dental Hygiene programs within the state. During SHOR student delegates elect one representative to serve as voting Student Delete. This individual represents and votes for all students at the HOD.

The Student Delegate is second year SADHA members and is elected by their peers in their perspective Dental Hygiene programs. To be a student Delegate please contacts your faculty SADHA representative.
