What is IOH?

The Institute of Oral Health (IOH) is a branch of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association that helps fund and support the future of dental hygiene. This group raises funds to support both educational and research grants for dental hygienists and dental hygiene students to continue on growing our profession. Their goal is to empower dental hygienists to improve the public’s health, support advancements in the dental hygiene profession, and develop dental hygienists’ access to education. We’ve had several dental hygienists right here in Utah be awarded grants and scholarships to help with school fees, volunteer programs, and to help with research.

The biggest fund raiser each year for the Institute of Oral Health in the In Motion: 5K Run during the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Annual Convention. This year, the run is held on Friday, June 21 in Louisville. Did you know that even if you’re not at the convention, you can register as a virtual runner, run right here in Utah, and still raise funds to help the profession grow? All proceeds are put directly to dental hygienists striving to improve and grow our profession.

When you register, either the in person runner or as a virtual runner, make sure you register under District 10 (X). Utah is part of District 10 when it comes to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, and we want you part of the team! When you sign up, let us know! We’d love to support you here in our home state and let the community know what you’re doing.

If you can’t come to Louisville and don’t want to be a virtual runner here in Utah, we’d still love your support! Pledge today to support Utah dental hygienists running in the race in June!
